Welcome to Berthé Counseling
As your therapist, you can count on me to create a warm, safe environment that communicates unconditional acceptance, positive regard, and nonjudgmental curiosity. I want you to feel free to explore all aspects of yourself without fear of criticism or shame, and I’ll accompany you as you become more present with your inner world: your feelings, your thoughts, how you’re experiencing the people and events around you, what meaning you make of those experiences, and your hopes for how you would like things to be. Together, we’ll reflect on how you cope with uncomfortable feelings and difficulties, and we’ll look with curiosity on the effectiveness of those coping methods, assessing what really helps you and what keeps you stuck. We’ll collaboratively think about how best to achieve your goals in therapy using your inner strengths and wisdom as well as the resources around you. When appropriate, I’ll teach you practical skills drawing from a range of psychodynamic and CBT modalities intended to help you increase your sense of agency in being your own problem-solver where you can be, and more accepting of things that can’t be changed.
