TEEN-AGING

Are you a high school junior or senior feeling concerned about relationships?

Are you anxious about college and the future?

Feeling kind of "blah" from time to time and not sure why or what to do?

You’re not alone, and you don’t have to feel like it. TEEN-AGING is a coed group that aims to bring together teens who feel just like you do in order to help them use their strengths and the support of their peers to work on relationships issues, anxiety, depression, stress, concerns about the future, and more.

What To Expect?

TEEN-AGING is a brief therapy group consisting of twelve one-hour sessions. The group's focus is interactive with an emphasis on members relating with each other in the here-and-now of each week’s session. Topics for discussion are collaboratively decided by members, and the group leader provides educational materials and homework to support the group’s learning goals. Some of the main goals of TEEN-AGING include:

  • Improving relationships

  • Increasing capacities for making meaningful connections with others

  • Developing resilience

  • Identifying core values

  • Learning skills for self-care, effective communication and emotion regulation

Sample topics explored in TEEN-AGING include but are not limited to:

  • Weed: The quote unquote new beer

  • From Me To We: Building self-esteem together

  • Good Grades, Good College, Good Job: Then what?

  • Everyone Suffers: Do we have to suffer alone?

  • Relationships

  • Identities: How many do we have?

  • When I’m Bored I ... (fill in the blank)

  • Living in the Screenage

  • Social Scenes: Dilemmas and opportunities

  • Family Stuff and Stuff

  • Hollywood, YouTube, and Spotify: Today's surrogate parents 

  • Sports, Roblox, and the Meaning of Life

  • The group will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM from September 27th thru December 20th

    • No meeting on November 20th
